Another thing is it did drag a little longer than necessary at certain points purely because judgements of certain characters were sometimes questionable but it wasn’t completely ruining it for me, so at least that was nice. It’s what brought it up from a 3 star to a 4 star. First of all, right off the bat, I found Scottie to be really frustratingly arrogant and unaware of the emotions of the people around her, BUT I do really approvals the character development I will admit. ![]() At that point it’s out of my control! However, I do have some gripes about the story and characters. I really enjoyed the premise of this book, after all I’m a simple gay, when I hear a sapphic book about a cheerleader and an athlete with an enemies to lovers trope, I HAVE to read it. A high school romance that hits all the cliches in almost all the perfect places ![]()

Regardless, college girls did have sex even in those pre- “pill” days, and sometimes found themselves in the situation of hoping their boyfriend would become their husband. Some of these young men came to college with more “experience” and may or may not have been more likely to persuade their female classmates to join them in bed. Young men who had served in WWII were benefitting from the GI bill and were a little older than many of their college classmates. Young women lived in dormitories and some young men lived in rooms rented in town by widows. Young men and women on college campuses smoked and flirted. By doing so, she also uses theoretical concepts that permeate gender studies, even though she does not necessarily refer to them directly. During her thirty minutes of speech, she manages to address or at least touch upon several themes that are essential for feminism per se and, in particular, in the post-colonial world. In her TED Talk titled “We Should All Be Feminists,” Adichie discusses contemporary feminism through the lens of her own experiences as a woman and a citizen of Nigeria. ![]() 5/30/2023 0 Comments Charles octavius boothe![]() Boothe describes his grandfather as a "pure African." ![]() His great-grandmother was born in West Africa before being captured and forced to live as a slave in Virginia. BOUND TO THE BOOKĬharles Octavius Boothe (1845–1925) was born on June 13 in Mobile, Alabama, and was the legal property of Nathaniel Howard. I felt seen and excluded-seen because my professor highlighted Boothe's story excluded because unlike others in the room, I had yet to experience my faith through the lens of someone who looked like me. Yet I was angry that his theological reflections about God, humanity, salvation, the church, and last days weren’t available for me to read. ![]() I was proud that an African American man, who was born a slave, had accomplished writing a systematic theology with limited access to education and resources. ![]() My heart bounced back in forth as I looked at Boothe's photo. With the fuzzy, black and white picture in the background, my professor explained how our knowledge of church history was limited because many of its documents, like Boothe's systematic theological handbook, had been lost. At the time, all he could only offer us was a photo of Boothe. I was struggling to stay awake in day two of an eight-hour church history class when my professor mentioned him. ![]() 5/30/2023 0 Comments The mother by yvvette edwards![]() ![]() Lemon has a painful question: Berris held the knife, but he and Jinx both played a part. Grant notes, among other things, ‘its elegant use of language,’ and that it ‘achieves its effects without artifice.’ He plainly states it’s the ‘best ghost story’ in novel form he’s ever read. Grant-another writer who knows a thing or two about the genre-chose Taylor’s 1977 novel Sweetheart, Sweetheart to write a short essay about. Well-known horror writers wrote about their favorite books, and the esteemed author and editor Charles L. My guide was Horror: 100 Best Books by Stephen Jones and Kim Newman, two men who know a thing or two about the genre. The first time I heard of Bernard Taylor was around Halloween of 1994, when I was working in a large chain bookstore and trying to stock the horror section with some terror-ific titles.
